Dear Family Ski Meisters,
Hello all FSM members. Good to see you at Daddy O’s last week for our first social event of the season. For those I didn’t get to talk or weren’t able to attend I hope everyone had a wonderful summer. I want to take a few minutes to introduce myself as the new President of the FSM Club for 2016-2017. I joined the club 3 years ago with the encouragement of Greg Clark, elected VP last year and President this coming year. I am both honored and excited to be your President and I look forward to helping the club grow any way I can with the assistance of an awesome group of FSM Officers and Coordinators. Without these key members who volunteer to get things done, our club would not exist. So whenever you see any of these people, please thank them for their hard work.
Vice President: Peter Nikolski
Treasurer: Charlie Traver
Recording Secretary: John Zullo
Membership: Wendell and Karen Wilkinson
Ski Programs Coordinator: Michael Freiler
Liaison Coordinator: Ron Dombroski
Social Programs Coordinators: Ray and Mary Beth Hickson
Web Master: Brian Capuani
Sunshine Coordinator: Mary Coiteux
I am confident that in 2016-17, with the help of all FSM members, we will make it another great year of fun events and memories. Whether you ski or board, join us for biking and hiking, or just join us at the social events, I invite all of you to participate as much as you can. You can lead an event or offer to help at any of the events. Remember that according to our By-Laws, to be a member in good standing and receive a subsidy, a family will need to satisfy all the following three requirements in the previous year:
- Attend 50% of the meetings; we meet 8 times during the year.
- Serve an elected position, serve as Coordinator of a permanent Committee or subcommittee, or participate in a qualifying activity.
- Attend at least one Club sponsored ski trip.
It is up to all of us to make our club vital and strong and there are plenty of opportunities for everyone to contribute. Feel free to ask any officer, coordinator or other member how you can help.
Currently we have 240 members and there are openings for 28 families. I would like to see a big push to bring in families with young kids to help keep our club growing in the future. I ask each and every one of you to keep your eye out for families you believe would make a good addition to our club and bring them to our September kick-off meeting.
Our first meeting and “kick-off” is on Sunday, September 18th from 2-6 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in LaGrange. Following the meeting we will have a social hour to start the year. Many thanks to Mary Beth and Ray Hickson who agreed again to be the Social Coordinators this year. This will serve as our September meeting vs. our usual Thursday night. The remainder of the meetings will be on Thursday evenings at the Wappinger’s Elks Lodge, starting at 7:30pm. See the FSM web site for a calendar of those meetings.
I hope to see you soon!
President, Family Ski Meisters
